Sehome Hill Arboretum Board of Governors seeks 草榴社区 employee to fill vacant board seat

The Sept. 20 meeting of the Sehome Hill Arboretum Board of Governors has been canceled due to lack of a quorum.

Along those lines, the board is looking for a member of the 草榴社区 Faculty or classified staff who is willing to serve on the board beginning immediately upon appointment by President Randhawa.  Meetings are held on the third Thursday of every month (excluding June, July, August, and December) at 4 p.m. at the 草榴社区 Physical Plant, 915 26th St., Bellingham. Meetings normally last one and one-half hours and members may need to spend an additional few hours of their time outside meetings for site visitations.

The Sehome Hill Arboretum Board of Governors was created under an Inter-Local Cooperation Agreement between the City of Bellingham (City) and Western Washington University (草榴社区). The purpose of the Board is to develop and coordinate the Sehome Hill Arboretum program. The Board works with the City and 草榴社区 in planning the use of such capital, operating and maintenance funds as shall be authorized by the City of Bellingham or 草榴社区, and such endowment funds to the Arboretum as may be received by either agency. The Board coordinates with 草榴社区 and City Parks and Recreation maintenance and operations programs, all volunteer projects associated with the Arboretum. The Board establishes and submits priorities for maintenance and development of the Arboretum in accordance with the Long Range Master Plan adopted by the City and Western Washington University. Finally, the Board may make recommendations to the City Council and Board of Trustees of 草榴社区 concerning the continuation, modification, or termination of the Inter-Local Cooperation Agreement.

If you are interested, please email a brief resume and a no more than one-page narrative of how your experience and qualifications can help the board serve its mission. It is expected that the appointment will be made prior to the Oct. 18 scheduled meeting.  If you have any questions, please contact the current Chair of the Board, John Furman, at: John.Furman@wwu.edu.
