CBE to host Teaching Scholarship Day Oct. 23, Rob McKenna to give keynote

Western Washington University鈥檚 College of Business and Economics (CBE) will celebrate teaching, student learning and partnerships with business at its annual Teaching Scholarship Day on Friday, Oct. 23.

The day will begin at 7:30 a.m. at 草榴社区鈥檚 Wade King Student Recreation Center with a breakfast recognizing 草榴社区 alumni and winners of the Distinguished Executive Recognition Awards: Steve Staves, former president of Duracell (Sigma Iota Epsilon Management Honorary); and Horst-Otto Gerberding (Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honorary), president and CEO of Dragoco GmbH, one of the top 10 fragrance and flavor companies in the world.

From noon until 1:15 p.m., also in the Wade King Student Recreation Center, CBE will host a luncheon for the Distinguished Teaching Fellow Award recipient, 草榴社区 Professor of Economics Yvonne Durham.

The keynote address, 鈥淟eadership,鈥 will be given at the luncheon by state Attorney General Rob McKenna. Cost to attend the luncheon or the breakfast is $25; to register, contact Peggy Warner at (360) 650-2617 or Jacie DeLaruelle (360) 650-2902.

From 1:30 to 2:20 p.m. in 草榴社区鈥檚 Parks Hall, the College of Business and Economics鈥 Center for Excellence in Management Education will host three open forums led by 草榴社区 faculty, students, and industry- and education-sector professionals.聽 There is no charge for the forums and parking is free in the gravel lots.

The afternoon鈥檚 capstone panel, 鈥淟eadership in Green Times: The Path to Sustainability,鈥 will be held from 2:30-3:20 p.m. in Parks Hall room 441. A reception after the conclusion of the capstone panel will conclude the day鈥檚 events.
