First showing of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø's 'Things That Fly' will be this Saturday in Fairhaven

The Department of Theatre Arts at Western Washington University is presenting "Things That Fly," a free family production, on Saturdays this summer at the Fairhaven Village Green.

The first of the Saturday showings will be 2 p.m. this weekend (July 10) in Fairhaven. This performance, like all of them, is suitable for all ages. In addition to the production, there will be face painting, balloons and treats for playgoers – a perfect summer event for the whole family to enjoy.

In addition to July 10, the production will take place on the following Saturdays, all at 2 p.m.: July 17 and 24 and Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Directed by Charlotte Guyette, an associate professor of theatre arts at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, "Things That Fly" tells the story of 11-year-old Robert, who, with help from his little sister, Sally, has built a flying machine. On launch day, when the machine fails to operate as expected, Robert is ridiculed by his older brother and the local neighborhood kids who have come to watch. Little Sally comes to his rescue, and together they take a trip to the stars.
