Student Technology Fee awards announced; 14 new projects funded
Fourteen Student Technology Fee (STF) Tech Initiatives projects have been awarded for the 2023-24 academic year.
Projects totaling approximately $209,120 include a wide range of new technology, from video production equipment to handheld devices for teaching recycling and more. . Most of the projects will be implemented over the summer.
There was increased participation in the program this year, compared to last: 22 abstracts, 16 resulting proposals, and, finally, 14 project awards.
鈥淚nformation Technology Services appreciates partnering with the Associated Students leadership in sponsoring and selecting each year鈥檚 STF Tech Initiatives,鈥 said Chuck Lanham, Vice Provost for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. 鈥淔or the first time since before the pandemic, we had a complete committee, including three students-at-large. Student involvement is so important, since the committee is deciding how to spend their money. Faculty involvement is also crucial鈥攁n at-large faculty and a rep from the ATC [Academic Technology Committee]. Together, the students and faculty share perspectives. I鈥檓 always impressed with the caliber of the applications and the committee鈥檚 ability to discern and choose the proposals they recommend for funding.鈥
