Students: SNAP sign ups happen every Friday in the Basic Needs Hub

Students who have work study, or work 20+ hours a week or who have dependents may be eligible for SNAP benefits. SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) provides food benefits by supplementing grocery budgets. Students can visit the Basic Needs Hub (VU 420) Fridays during Fall quarter from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and get application assistance.

On Nov. 20, the DSHS Mobile Unit will be in Red Square helping students apply for SNAP. Students can complete SNAP applications on site and have questions answered. It is reported that 4 out of 1O students experience food insecurity each month and likely that number is higher.

Students who are unable to make the drop in hours can schedule an appointment with Gina Ebbeling, Basic Needs Resource Navigator, at ebbelig@wwu.edu.
