Sustainability lunch and learn starts at noon

Western Sustainability's "Sweater Days" Lunch and Learn, with storyteller and educator Doug Banner, starts at noon today.

Come if you can to Wilson 265 for tea and conversation from noon to 1 p.m.

As an educator and professional storyteller, Doug Banner understands the power of story to hinder or promote change. He has been an advocate for positive change during his entire career as an educator and community activist.

After 30 years in public education, he continues this work in his teaching at Western Washington University and in community groups such as the Bellingham Compassion Movement, The Bellingham Storytellers Guild, and the Nu Wa International Peace Delegation. He has presented his work on narrative to the International Leadership Association, The Jean Houston Leadership Summit, and to the Netherlands-based leadership group In Claritas.

His knowledge and understanding of the application of story to promote change at all levels of our lives is well recognized. His workshops on personal narrative are fast-paced, informative and immediately applicable to those who attend. his keynotes are meaningful and crafted to the specific audience. His storytelling concerts are lively and energetic. Banner brings his characters alive in the room while using a variety of musical instruments to move the story into the listeners and the listeners into the story.
