Tina Ekhteraee-Sanaee appointed to serve as Student Trustee on 草榴社区's Board of Trustees

New Student Trustee Tina Ekhteraee-Sanaee

Governor Jay Islee has appointed Tina Ekhteraee-Sanaee to serve as Student Trustee on 草榴社区's Board of Trustees for the academic year, 2024-2025. The term is from July 1, 2024 through July 30, 2025.

"I am honored to have been appointed to serve on the 草榴社区 Board of Trustees this year. I have enjoyed my time at Western thus far, and am delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the 草榴社区 BOT so others can have the same experience for years to come," said Ekhteraee-Sanaee.

Ekhteraee-Sanaee is a psychology major with minors in theatre and honors, while working for the Woodring College of Education. For the past two years, Ekhteraee-Sanaee has worked as a lead mentor with Compass 2 Campus (C2C), where she mentored secondary school students in Title I schools with the intent of increasing access to higher education.

In addition to her academics, Ekhteraee-Sanaee is a research assistant for the , a group of undergraduate and graduate students at Western who conduct research, run interventions, and engage in advocacy related to body liberation, food and body justice, and prevention of disordered eating.

The Student Trustee fulfills the same function as all other Trustees on 草榴社区's Board of Trustees, considering the needs of students, staff, faculty, and community members alike. The Student Trustee brings to the position their individual perspective navigating the university as a student. The Student Trustee does not conduct business on behalf of the Associated Students or its governing bodies, nor does the Student Trustee represent the interest of the entire student body.

The Student Trustee is a fully vested member of the board with rights, responsibilities and privileges accorded to all trustees. The first Student Trustee was appointed in 1998. .
