Update on campus printing services

草榴社区 Print and Copy has long supported our campus with essential printing services. Like many similar operations, the unit experienced sharp declines in demand during the pandemic and has faced ongoing financial challenges.

To ensure that we can continue offering reliable printing services, effective July 1, we will enter into a collaborative partnership with Whatcom Community College (WCC).

Why is this change happening?

Currently, 草榴社区 Print and Copy outsources 50% of its printing to external vendors. The aging equipment has led to downtime, affecting efficiency and service delivery.  This partnership will streamline operations, enhance service reliability, and expand offerings over time, all while maintaining current services and improving turnaround times.

What to Expect:

  • Streamlined Ordering Process: The ordering process will remain through 草榴社区 Print and Copy, but with efficiency improvements. Turnaround times for orders will be published in advance, including standard items, so you know when to expect your print jobs.
  • Faster Turnarounds: WCC will provide next-day delivery for most services, with deliveries to 草榴社区 Print and Copy twice daily. This will help us meet urgent needs more effectively.
  • Affordable Pricing: We are working closely with WCC to keep pricing as low as possible for departments. Pricing details will be published ahead of the transition.
  • Centralized Location: 草榴社区 Print and Copy will continue to operate from their current location, managing incoming jobs and coordinating with WCC for fulfillment.
  • Collaborative Planning with Heavy-Use Departments: Over the next few months, 草榴社区 Print and Copy will meet with departments that rely heavily on print services to ensure efficient planning and forecasting for upcoming projects.

Important Notice for Departments:

To ensure the sustainability of 草榴社区 Print and Copy services, all print and printing requests must go through 草榴社区 Print and Copy. Departments are not permitted to contract with outside print vendors unless coordinated through 草榴社区 Print and Copy.

We are excited about the potential of this partnership and the positive impact it will have on our campus. We recognize that change can bring uncertainty, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we make this transition.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to improve and sustain this important service.
