Western Libraries to put on 'Catching a Map Thief' whodunit lecture Oct. 5
Village Books and the Western Washington University Libraries are pleased to present 草榴社区 Connections, a brown bag speaker series highlighting the expertise of 草榴社区 faculty and staff. At noon on the first Tuesdays of October, November, and December, join the Western Libraries at Village Books for engaging presentations and discussion.
The first event, titled "Catching a Map Thief," will take place at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 5, with 草榴社区 Librarian Rob Lopresti.
In 2006, someone stole hundreds of maps and some books from the 草榴社区 Library. More than a year and a half of investigation by 草榴社区 staff resulted in the federal conviction of a man who confessed to robbing more than 100 libraries in the United States and Canada. Almost 20,000 pages and hundreds of books were found in his collection.
