Western offers counseling, support after death of student Alex Binkerd
Western Washington University is providing counseling and support to the friends and family of Western student Alex Binkerd as they share their grief over his death.
Binkerd passed away early Wednesday at his home near Western鈥檚 campus. The Bellingham Police Department is investigating; the Whatcom County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of his death.
鈥淥ur campus community offers its deepest condolences to Alex鈥檚 family and friends,鈥 said Eileen Coughlin, senior vice president and vice president for Enrollment and Student Services at Western. 鈥淲e encourage students who knew Alex and may be in need of support to please contact our Counseling Center.鈥

A funeral for聽Alex Matthew Binkerd will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at聽Timberlake Christian Church, located at聽4505 236th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98053.聽Binkerd's parents would invite anyone who knew Alex to come and celebrate his life with them. They are very thankful for the thoughts and prayers.
