Western on the Peninsulas Lecture to Discuss Evolution and Natural Selection May 5

Western Washington University on the Peninsulas will host Jennie Hoffman in a public lecture titled “Practical Evolution: Why Understanding Natural Selection Matters for All of Us” as a part of its Western Lecture Series at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 5 on the Olympic College Poulsbo campus.

The public is invited to attend the free, informational event and is encouraged to RSVP online at wwu.edu/KitsapEvents to secure seating.

Hoffman, an expert in climate change and marine ecology, will share how understanding evolution can make for a better world while addressing the controversy surrounding the topic. 

Hoffman is the co-author of “Climate Savvy: Adapting Conservation and Resource Management to a Changing World.” Her strengths include the assessment of climate-change vulnerability, planning and adapting conservation methods and resource management.  

In partnership with Olympic College, Western on the Peninsulas offers four-year degrees, continuing education courses, free educational lectures, local literature book groups and youth programs. Information on program offerings can be found at wwu.edu/Peninsulas.
