Western is conducting an institution-wide Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey, in collaboration with the , a nationally-recognized nonprofit specializing in campus surveys. The data will be used to shape policy and programming across the institution, assess progress toward the university’s strategic goals, and support the work of the Chief Diversity Officer. The survey is confidential, and takes about 15 minutes to complete.

“This is a great opportunity to establish a consistent, recurring survey of the climate for all members of the Western community,” says Melynda Huskey, who is overseeing the survey process. “The report will give us a baseline for future climate assessments and valuable data for decision making across campus.” Washington law now requires all institutions of higher education to conduct equity and diversity climate assessment at least every 5 years, and to hold annual listening and feedback sessions on diversity, equity, and inclusions in the years between climate assessments.
