Western Pottery Club students donating bowls for local Food Bank event

There is an "Empty Bowls" event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5 at Boundary Bay.  It is being organized by the Whatcom Artists of Clay and Kiln (WACK), and students and faculty members of Western's Pottery Club are participating by donating hand-made ceramic bowls.

A little about the Empty Bowls Project:  Participants donate hand-made ceramic bowls to the event organizers.  The organizers work with local businesses to host and provide food for the event.  Event goers pay $15, and get one of the hand-made bowls, along with a serving of soup.  Proceeds go to a local food bank or charity (in this case the Bellingham Food Bank).  The bowl that each event goer receives is supposed to serve as a reminder of the all of the empty bowls in the world.
