Western鈥檚 Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program to Host Intellectual Property Courses Open to the Community This Spring
Western Washington University鈥檚 Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program presents a run of short courses that provide a broad overview of intellectual property (IP) law, with an emphasis on real-world context and entrepreneurship.
Gain the tools to understand and utilize intellectual property throughout your career. Participants are introduced to the fundamental types of intellectual property: patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. Learn about agreements related to intellectual property, such as licensing, confidentiality, and non-compete agreements.
Specific subject matter relevant to class participants is included, from protection of product designs, music and art, utility patents, and intellectual property issues related to software/apps/video games, and more.
- Interact with IP in the broader world, whether as consumers, employees, or in business
- Wield a practical knowledge of IP: identify the types of intellectual property and speak intelligently about them at a broad level
- Understand the basic types of agreements you may encounter in relation to employers or your own businesses
The course meets synchronously online for four Friday afternoons, from 2:30-4:45 p.m. April 17, April 24, May 1 and May 8. Courses are open to community members.
