Western to Offer Certification Exam Prep Course in Project Management This Fall – Info Session Set for Sept. 22
Western will offer a 10-week public course this fall to prepare participants for the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification exam.
The course, titled Project Management Certification Exam Preparation, will take place Tuesday evenings, Oct. 6 to Dec. 8, on Western’s campus. Participants will focus on the 10 key areas of project management, methodologies, policies, and management control that will be required knowledge for the exam.
An information session will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Village Books in Fairhaven. The registration deadline for the course is Sept. 29.
The course is ideal for a wide array of professionals who manage projects, as well as students pursuing careers in business and management. Even if one doesn’t intend to get an official certification, the course enables participants to better manage scope, timelines, and stakeholders in any project.
PMP certification is now a minimum requirement for appointment of senior project managers in many local and international companies. A PMP certification tells employers you have a solid foundation of project management knowledge that can be readily applied in the workplace.
The interactive course will include lecture, small group activities and practice tests. PMP expert Robin Halliday will teach key concepts, techniques, and practices to help participants pass the PMP certification exam with confidence. The course qualifies for the 35 required hours of project management education with the (PMI).
