Western Washington University Announces Spring Youth Programs
Western has announced its Spring 2019 youth programs, and Computer Science Club, Kids Night Out @ Western and GEMS Academy are quickly approaching. Participants can enjoy education, recreation, access to unique and specialized labs and university resources in the following spring programs:
Saturdays, April 13, 20, 27; May 4, 11, 18 | 10 a.m.-noon
Grades 6-9
$135 to ($20 discount for Western faculty, staff and alumni)
Exploring AI in Minecraft: Students are given a range of learning tools to hone their technological skills. The focus this spring is making modifications within the game Minecraft.
Friday, April 26 | 7-10 p.m.
$30 to
Grades K-5
What鈥檚 in Bellingham Bay?: Participants explore hands-on science activities with a local focus. The activities are located at the Science Resource Center. Students also have an hour of swimming at Wade King Recreation Center to end the night.
Saturday, May 4 | 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
$45 to register (registration opens soon)
Grades 5-8
GEMS Academy provides a safe and empowering space for girls in to explore STEM fields in a college setting. Participants have the opportunity to enjoy hands-on activities in the Science Resource Center.
