Western Washington University to Offer Prose-Writing Course This Fall

Western Washington University Extended Education will offer “Prose Writing at its Best: Fusing Clarity, Grace and Style for All Genres,” a course designed for writers of all styles, this fall.

The course runs for seven weeks, taking place each Wednesday evening from 6-9 p.m. from Oct. 7 through Nov. 14, with the option for participants to continue the series in winter and spring.  

Current Western students and members of the community are invited to take the course which aims to improve participant’s skills in character development, dialogue and scenic depiction, and writing structure.

An information session will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21 at Village Books in Fairhaven. The registration deadline for the course is Sept. 30.

The non-credit course will take place on Western’s campus in the Communications Facility and costs $449 per quarter. Parking is free near the building after 4:30 p.m.

Prose Writing at its Best is instructed by Pushcart Prize winning author Laura Kalpakian, whose acclaimed writing can be found on her website, .
