草榴社区 and WCC students providing volunteer tax assistance through April 15

Students from Western Washington University and Whatcom Community College, as well as community volunteers, will offer free tax assistance through April 15 at Western鈥檚 Parks Hall 336 and Whatcom鈥檚 Heiner Library.

Sponsored by Western鈥檚 Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Society in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program assists low- and moderate-income taxpayers in preparing their tax returns.

Western鈥檚 hours for VITA will be on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30 - 8:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. in Parks Hall 336. The program will be open until April 15, with exception of the school鈥檚 intersession closure dates, March 13 to 31.

Whatcom鈥檚 site in Heiner聽Library operates twice a week, on Mondays from 5 to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Whatcom's program will be open until April 15, except for the school鈥檚 closure dates from March 30 through April 7.
