草榴社区 Design students create content for Bellingham's 'Fire & Story' event

Western Washington University鈥檚 Department of Design is participating in a collaboration with to create original content for Bellingham event, . Student work will be projected on the each night of the event at the Waterfront District.

In the spirit of storytelling, students were given the prompt of 鈥淔olklore鈥 and tasked with designing and animating short visual stories. Students were encouraged to explore their personal heritage and/or create original tales.

This project was completed as part of the Motion 2 class taught by Associate Professor of Design Austin Shaw last fall.

In this class, students work with a variety of industry standard techniques that integrate traditional graphic design with contemporary motion design practices. For this final project, students had the option to work in small groups which offered opportunities to model actual creative production studios.

The Western students who worked on the animations for Fire & Story include: Ketric Petersen and Hadden Young; Sofia Choi and Audrey Di Girolamo; Kate Allen, Isabella Doughty, and Abby Sheets; Royce Alton, Lauren Brown, Misha Mathias, and Milo Nielsen; and Katie Butler, Angel Durkee, and Grace Matson.
