As part of Geography Awareness Week, ²ÝÁñÉçÇø’s Geography Program Presents "How Geographic Information Systems are helping Bellingham address today’s challenges and move toward tomorrow’s vision," a GIS Day talk with ²ÝÁñÉçÇø alumnus and City of Bellingham Senior GIS Analyst Chris Behee, from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 in ES 100.

The talk is free and open to the public.

Bellingham, like cities everywhere, is faced with a host of difficult choices when deciding how it will accommodate growth, address homelessness and the cost of housing, provide adequate transportation infrastructure, keep people safe, and provide an enjoyable, vibrant, livable community. This talk will highlight how GIS is helping City staff, elected officials, and the public to address these choices head-on with powerful analytics and innovative visualizations, while providing unprecedented levels of access and transparency. Behee is a 1990 graduate of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø’s Geography program and has spent the past 28 years providing GIS analysis and support for local government planning efforts.
