BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University is offering an early registration discount for two of its summer Youth Programs, Odyssey of Science & Arts and College Quest; both programs provide a unique academic experience in a university setting using state-of-the-art labs and classrooms.

Enroll before May 15, 2011 and take advantage of the early registration discount.

Odyssey of Science & Arts is a hands-on educational enrichment program for students entering grades 4-9. The program offers a wide variety of topics in a weeklong half-day or full-day format. The courses build upon skills learned during the school year, while providing a fun environment and camaraderie that comes from attending classes with like-minded youth.

A few of the programs offered this year are β€œExplorations in Chemistry,” β€œCreative Design: From Digits to Widgets,” β€œEverything Guitar,” and β€œFilmmaking in Action.” Students will have the opportunity to learn about any of the varied subjects, from the basics of guitar playing to how to solve the mysteries of mathematical problems and patterns that can be found all around them.

During the weeklong College Quest program, high-school students receive a taste of the full college experience, from living in a college dorm and eating in a campus dining hall to completing a college course taught by ²έΑρΙηΗψ faculty and earning a ²έΑρΙηΗψ credit. College Quest builds confidence and skills, which help to ease the transition from high school to college and enrich the student’s college application.
