草榴社区 professor to co-host 'Pickford Classic Movie' show Sundays on KVOS
Western Washington University has joined with the Pickford Film Center and KVOS TV-12 to provide a new, locally flavored show titled "The Pickford Classic Movie."
草榴社区 English Professor Kaveh Askari will join Michael Falter, program director of Pickford Film Center, each week to provide trivia, little-known facts, interesting back story and conversation about a different classic film throughout the film始s airing.
The program will air at 8 p.m. on Sundays on KVOS TV channel 12.
"Revisiting the classic films from Hollywood and around the world with Kaveh is like digging up a fantastic time capsule," Falter says. "The passage of time has only increased my passion for these films, as they not only shaped film history, but tell us about our own in ways their creators never imagined. Dusting off these treasures and sharing our discoveries is pure pleasure."
Askari says the show has a real local connection.
"I love the way the show creates a sense that we始re watching the movie together," he says. "One of my favorite things about the Puget Sound region is how passionate we are that our culture (like our food) stays tied to the local community. When we watch an old movie as a community, we become a part of that movie始s history."
