²ÝÁñÉçÇø revises policies on immigration enforcement

An important update has been made to Western’s policy regarding access to campus, university property, and student information for immigration enforcement purposes. This revision ensures that university policy remains in full alignment with state law, which is protective of individuals’ rights and upholds the values of privacy and respect for all members of our university community.

For faculty and staff, the Office of Equity and ²ÝÁñÉçÇø's Assistant Attorney General will host a special webinar to address any questions or concerns about this policy revision this Friday, Jan. 24 from 2-3 p.m.: The passcode to the webinar is ²ÝÁñÉçÇø. To join via audio, call (360) 209 5623, Webinar ID: 944 6925 8909.

The session will be recorded and a link will be posted to the Office of Equity’s website and shared in Western Today next week for those who cannot attend live. The webinar will also provide information about how the university is preparing for the impact of executive orders and federal policy changes, as well as offering a forum to answer questions. We anticipate this to be the first of several webinars we plan to offer.

For students, the Blue Resource Center will be offering information sessions focused on student rights related to immigration enforcement. These sessions are scheduled for Feb. 11 and March 11 at noon in the Viking Union.

For more information and to review frequently asked questions about the university's policy, please visit the policy's on the Office of Equity website. This resource provides valuable information on how the revised policy impacts our campus and community.

While these updates are essential to ensuring the campus remains a place where everyone feels supported and safe, they are just one part of a larger effort to strengthen connection and belonging at Western. This quarter, the Office of Equity is hosting a series of discussions centered on
