草榴社区 students post music video to help raise funds for #MyFreedomDay

A group of 草榴社区 students led by Ben Hodson have created and posted to raise awareness for My Freedom Day and funds for the International Justice Mission, an NGO working to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

The musicians in the video are all Western music students, including Hodson on trumpet. Hodson said he hopes fellow students and the campus community will ponder the following question: What makes you feel free?

"The way I鈥檇 like to do this is by getting people to click on the video, and after watching, comment in the video description on YouTube the answer to that question. In return, I have a free Double Major ticket that I will give to the person who gives the response that I think resonates best with the majority of US college students," he said.

MyFreedomDay is a student-lad, CNN-hosted national movement that takes place this Thursday, March 14, and will raise awareness towards modern slavery. Currently, about 40 million people are enslaved globally, a quarter of which are children, not to mention that human trafficking generates 150 billion annually.

"This is an issue that deserves much more attention than it currently gets," Hodson said.
