Theatre and Dance Presents ‘Commedia in the Park’ July 1-3

Western Washington University Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Commedia in the Park,” directed by Theatre faculty Rich Brown, at 7 p.m., July 1-3, in Maritime Heritage Park at 500 W. Holly St. in Bellingham.

The show is open to the public and free to attend.  This marks the sixth year of July 4 weekend commedia performances in Maritime Heritage Park.

Presented by Theatre students enrolled in the summer course “Advanced Acting Topics” taught by Brown, “Commedia” is a highly physicalized, masked comedy performance originating from the Italian Renaissance.  The show features well-known stock characters such as the tricky servants, young lovers, and foolish old men and women.
