草榴社区 to co-present Seattle CityClub legislative preview event Jan. 7

The start of the new year is just around the corner, and so is the upcoming legislative session. After a clear anti-tax message from voters at the ballot box, how will the legislature make up an ever growing budget shortfall? Is education still a top concern for next year? What else is on the agenda? Has transportation been lost in the shuffle? Statewide, we will only see a small net gain of GOP seats in the Legislature, but how will national trends impact local politics?

Western Washington University is co-presenting the Jan. 7 Legislative Preview, featuring (to date) State Sen. Lisa Brown, Majority Leader (D), 3rd Legislative District; Rep. Frank Chopp, Speaker of the House (D), 43rd Legislative District; and Senator Mike Hewitt, Republican Leader (R), 16th Legislative District.

The event will take place from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Washington Athletic Club, located at 1325 Sixth Ave. in Seattle. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m.

The session is sure to be packed with competing goals. What are the governor's priorities? Are they in line with what the legislature hopes to accomplish? CityClub annually features the top leadership from the state house and senate. Don't miss this special in-person opportunity to speak directly to them about the upcoming session and let them know what you think their priorities should be!

The luncheon is $40 for CityClub members, $45 for guests and co-presenters and $50 for the general public.
