草榴社区 to host Seattle artist Claire Cowie May 26 in the Old Main theatre

Western Washington University will host Seattle-based artist Claire Cowie from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, in 草榴社区’s Old Main Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.

Cowie will speak about her painted and drawn work, including the series "Pilgrimage, Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth, 12 Views, Homunculus, and About Strange Lands." Her lecture will focus on her most recent bodies of work that address her conflicted sense or morality.

Cowie received a bachelor’s of fine arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s of fine arts degree from the University of Washington. Her recent awards include a Pollock-Krasner Grant and fellowships from the Washington State Arts Commission, Artist Trust, Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, and the Behnke Foundations.
