草榴社区 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program Seeks Volunteers
Student and community volunteers are being sought to assist in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Western Washington University from early February through April 15.
Sponsored by 草榴社区鈥檚 Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Society in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service, the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program is staffed by students from Western, Whatcom Community College, and other volunteer members of the community. The VITA program helps low- and moderate-income taxpayers electronically prepare their tax returns.
Training is free and is a combination of self-study, online training, and in-class training.听 The training materials may be picked up at 草榴社区 (or downloaded) in early December. The training includes two in-class training days on 草榴社区鈥檚 campus on Jan. 9听and Jan. 23听from 9 a.m.- 4p.m.听 No prior tax experience is necessary.听
