's 'Neuroscience on Tap' Continues April 1 at Club Glow in Downtown Bellingham

BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University’s Department of Music, in partnership with the Bellingham Festival of Music, will feature Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov at 7:30 p.m. on April 11 in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.

The 21-year-old prodigy recently won First Prize and Grand Prix at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, First Prize at the Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv, and Third Prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw.
Trifonov’s program for his Bellingham debut will include Scriabin’s “Sonata No. 2,” “Sonata in B minor” by Liszt, and Chopin’s “Préludes, Op. 28.”
“This event promises to be a highlight of the community’s 2013 classical music scene,” said Daniel Guyette, dean of Western’s College of Fine and Performing Arts. “It is especially appropriate to be in continued partnership with the Bellingham Festival of Music during this celebratory year for them. We are also pleased that this event will be an extension of our Arthur Hicks Piano Series.”
Festival of Music Board chair, John Binns, said, “We are most fortunate to join forces with the University in bringing this exceptional piano talent to our community. Trifonov is in high demand by the world’s finest orchestras and recital halls. It is especially significant to us since he is appearing as an adjunct to the Bellingham Festival of Music’s 20th Anniversary Season, which will take place from July 5 to July 21.”
Concert tickets are $35 for Section A, $25 for Section B, and $15 for students. In addition to the concert, patrons can purchase a $15 ticket to a “Meet the Artist Reception” following the evening performance.
