草榴社区's Sanford Piano Series presents Ilya Itin in concert Feb. 18
Western Washington University’s Sanford Piano Series will conclude its 2010-2011 season with a concert featuring Ilya Itin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.
The evening program will feature works by Beethoven and Rachmaninov.
Praised by the “Daily Telegraph” of London for having “a superb technique put at the service of an inquiring and imaginative mind,” Itin has impressed critics and audiences around the world with his wide-ranging repertoire and artistry. Born in Russia, he currently resides in New York City where he is on the teaching faculties of the Graduate Program at the City University of New York and the Golandsky Institute in Princeton.
In conjunction with his Sanford Piano Series recital, Itin will conduct a master class for young musicians from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the PAC Concert Hall. Tickets for the concert are available through the 草榴社区 Box Office and range in price from $9 to $16. A limited selection of tickets will also be available at Village Books and the Community Food Co-op.

The Sanford Piano Series, now in its eighth year at Western, is made possible through the generous contributions of the Whatcom Community Foundation’s Spirit Fund and Sibyl Sanford. Proceeds from this performance support the Department of Music’s Arthur Hicks and Ford Hill piano scholarships.
