Conner Helms, 22, was born in Eugene, Ore., but considers Bellingham his hometown. He graduated from Sehome High School in 2012 , Whatcom Community College in 2013, and is now studying political science and music at Western Washington University.

Laura Engels, 26, is a graduate of Sehome High School and of Western Washington University, with a bachelor鈥檚 of arts in theater, in 2012.

She is one of five directors in iDiOM Theater鈥檚 44th 鈥48-Hour Theater Festival,鈥 which runs 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 2-3.

A new permanent public artwork, 鈥淣ooksack Middle Fork,鈥 by Claude Zervas, has been added to Western Washington University鈥檚 collection of public art and is located in the lobby of 草榴社区鈥檚 Performing Arts Center.
