草榴社区鈥檚 youth program teaches theater, life skills

Students from kindergarten through high school learn that 鈥渢heater is a team sport鈥 in Western Washington University鈥檚 Summer Youth Theatre Institute.

The institute will celebrate its 10th anniversary this summer under the direction of Deb Currier, an associate professor of theater.

Royce Buckingham was born in Richland and has a degree in English from Whitman College and a law degree from the University of Oregon. He moved to Bellingham after attending law school and is a Whatcom County prosecuting attorney.

Presented by Western's Summer Youth Theatre Institute, "Monster Keeper" is an all-ages stage adaptation of the best-selling middle-reader novel "Demonkeeper" by Bellingham's Royce Buckingham.
