草榴社区 to induct four into Athletic Hall of Fame on May 14

Western Washington University will honor four former student-athletes by inducting them into the 草榴社区 Athletics Hall of Fame at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, in the Concert Hall of the Performing Arts Center.

Jim Sterk, Mitch Barnhart named to Division I Men's Basketball Committee

Two recent recipients of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics AD of the Year award have been appointed to the Division I Men鈥檚 Basketball Committee. Jim Sterk, the director of athletics at San Diego State University and one of this year鈥檚 four winners for the NACDA award鈥

Auburn School District announces Teachers of the Year

Jim Wickens, Kelly Portmann and Alisa Louie have been chosen the 2015-16 Auburn School District Teachers of the Year.

The school board of directors will recognize the trio at 7 p.m., May 23 in the board room of the James P. Fugate Administration building, 915 Fourth St. NE.

Rebecca Himschoot, a teacher in Sitka, has joined the State Board of Education & Early Development. She holds the public seat for the First Judicial District, replacing Kathleen Yarr, whose term expired. Ms. Himschoot鈥檚 term expires on March 1, 2021.
