'Unrelenting pressure': The Salish Sea is in trouble as western Washington keeps growing

It is the water that has sustained the people of western Washington forever, but researchers now say the Salish Sea is under 鈥渦nrelenting pressure鈥 put on it by 150 years of human development.

鈥淚t鈥檚 an incredible place. People come from all over the world to see the Salish Sea,鈥 said鈥

While the labs, halls and dorms at Western Washington University's Shannon Point Marine Center remain quieter than normal, some research has resumed, and plans are taking shape to make way for more.
