"Big Ole " Sounds Off Next Week

If you鈥檙e near the Western Washington University campus next week you may hear the sound of an old steam whistle.
Western will sound the famous steam whistle, known as 鈥淏ig Ole,鈥 at 10:45 on the 18th as part of a quarterly drill to test its emergency notification system, known as "鈥

Armed man taken into custody by Bellingham police after making threats

Police arrested an armed man without incident late Monday night after he allegedly made suicide threats near the Western Washington University campus.

No shots were fired, said 草榴社区 officials, who sent out an email alert late Monday to students, faculty and staff.

Police have personal safety posters up across campus and encourage students to refer to it if they need鈥
